Why can't I open a User Defined Transform in my batch job

Hi,

  I am trying to learn how to use user defined transforms in BODS 4.1.  When I try to add a new User Defined Transform to my dataflow, it is greyed out in my Local Object Library.

If I use Create New Instance then a small key and red x appear on the User Defined transform object and I am unable to open it because that menu item is greyed out as well.

Does anyone know why this is happening?
