Data Service 4.2 Install Error - No local SIA Nodes

I am setting up a new Data Service 4.2 environment. I am trying to do this in a distributed manner -- having my IPS installation on a separate server that the Data Services Server.

I have installed IPS 4.1 SP2 on my server. I am able to login to the Central Management Console on the IPS system with the Administrator user name and password that that I setup during the installation.

I have disabled the Windows firewall to ensure that not ports will be blocked.

On my other server I am trying to install Data Services 4.2.

I get to the point of the installation where I "Specify CMS connection information". I enter the server name where I installed the IPS 4.1 SP2 product in the "System" field. I use the default "Administrator" user name and I enter the password that I setup for the Administrator user.

I then receive the following error:

No local SIA Nodes

The installer count not detect a running Data Services Administrator Service with the specified CMS connection information. Also, no valid local SIA node was found. The installer can not continue.

To fix this problem:

1. Make sure a Data Services Administrator Service is up and running with the specific CMS;

2. Or, create a valid local SIA node to point to the specified CMS.

At this point I'm at a loss as to what needs to be done. I'm not installing the IPS on this system so there is none of this running locally. I can ping the remote IPS system, and all firewalls are off. So the communications should be getting though. If I change the server name to server:1234 to give a different port number, than the default 6400 then I get a different error message, so it appears that communication is successful on SOME level.

This is a crazy install process that has me bouncing from one document to the next trying to walk through this. In previous installations I have always elected to go the simple route of installing everything on a single server -- however I am trying to avoid that this time because I need to scale this installation larger than a single server.

I'm trying to install the IPS on server A, the Data Services core on Server B, and the Data Services web front end on Server C.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
