I am working for a company that has just started using Data Services to pull information from our SAP system into a SQL datawarehouse for reporting. We are using a set of custom and standard extractors.
Each Extractor has its own BODS Job and we use a global variable to determine if the job is doing a full extract or a delta extract. The Delta extract works perfectly. The data comes in from the BW Delta queues and into bods when the job is run and we use the CDC Map to determine if it is insert delete or update on our SQL table (our destination).
Our Destination tables have up-sert and auto correct load are both switched off.
As I said using the method above works perfect for deltas, the Sequence number and Operation type work perfectly.
However if you do an initial load with a set of data from one of the setup tables then we have an issue. When the data comes into BODS there are no problems however when it goes into the CDC map, job crashes out and it complains that the sequence number is invalid and it shows a lot of (what appear to be) chinese characters.
We can't work out how they get there or what is happening. We do believe it may have something to do with the sequence number being invalid? or that a date range is not being populated and passed into the ODQMon? or the Queue?
Any help you can give would be great.
Please note at this point we have set up a job controlled with a global variable to determine if the load is initial or not and we use the same job for initial and delta both with a CDC map. If we remove the CDC map of course delta doesn't work any more and if we use CDC map the initial load fails with these random chinese characters.
Should we be able to use one job? Should CDC map be able to be in place for both delta and initial load.
