We are trying to install SAP Data Services 4.2 server in an AIX machine.

We have a SQL Anywhere database created which should contain the repository, but we have a problem with the connection details (See image below).

We believe the error is in the Driver path/name/file specification...

I have a case, where we are using below scenario;

                                                                 --------->File (Delete)

I want to capture the Inserted and Deleted records separately in file with opcodes. Is it possible to capture? Any other possible ways. Kindly give some suggestions on that.

I am going to extract the data from Social media like Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and RSS feeds.

I got the job for extracting twitter data  in the Data Services Data quality blue prints.  But there we are using Python script for the extract the data.

We are going to use only Data integrator not Data Services.  Python script used in the user defined transform.  User defined transform  is part of Data quality.

We need to use only Data Integrator transforms and need to extract the data from Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and RSS feeds.

I have checked in the SAP website and found one application called SAP Cloud for social engagement.  Is it possible to extract the data from Social engagement to extract  and store into the database.

Please help me in this ?

We have two requirements in our Project.

Please help us how to resolve this.

Question 1:

We have multiple flat files naming  --> Data_<uniquenumber>.csv

Now I have to load data from only one flat file which is created/modified at the latest.

So Please help us how can we write Data Services script language for this scenario.

Question 2:

Once data from the file is loaded, the file will be moved to Archive folder.

After 30 days, the file would be deleted in Archival folder.

So Please help us how can we write Data Services script language for this scenario.

We recently upgraded BODS from 4.1 to 4.2.

But while executing the job in 4.2, we are getting the error : 50406 (Please find the attached screenshot for the error log).

Can someone help me with this issue.? I am suspecting this as some kind of memory issue.

Please provide your precious comment on this.

After Table comparison, in key generation transform, column to be incremented was varchar in table. So I'm getting below warning.

Generated key column  for table must be of type REAL, FLOAT, DOUBLE, INTEGER.

Is there is any way to fix it?

Follow below steps to install IBM DB2 Drivers.

The double click v9.7fp4_ntx64_rtcl_EN

Select yes

Preparation installation screen allow to run though

Select next

accept the terms in the license agreement and then next

Leave the  default typical and then select next

Select install

Review the installation screen

Select finish to complete installation

You have now the software installed

To review your software you can Select all programs >  control panel >  uninstall software and you can see the software installed as screen shot below

once we successfully install DB2 then  Create of DB2 ODBC connection:

Here are the steps for creating DB2 ODBC connection:

Navigate to start button and select Data Sources (ODBC) from Administrative tools.

Select System DSN and Add button and select IBM DB2 Driver

And enter all require details

Once you fill all the details then click on test connection whether connection is working fine or not.

If connection details are wrong you cant delete entry directly from system DSN.

we should follow below steps to delete the entry from installed folder

If connection is working fine please navigate to designer and create new data store

And click on apply button.

And test by running the job which pulls data from DB2 source.

We have proposed SAP Data Services RDS for Data Migraton+Information Steward for a customer. The customer is also evaluating Winshuttle for the data migration.

Few questions:

1. Can winshuttle be compared to Data Services?

2. Does winshuttle have the capability to connect diretly with source databases, Eg., DB2, Oracle etc?

3. Does Winshuttle have the ability to analyze, profile, cleanse and validate the data?

4. How is the data enrichment/data quality capabilities of Winshuttle?

5. Does Winshuttle have any capabilities like Information Steward?

We're working on upgrading our DS system.  I'm having a hard time figuring out how to copy and upgrade my repository (Local).

I've tried following the instructions in Scenario 3 from this http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/EIM/Best+Practices+for+upgrading+older+Data+Integrator+or+Data+Services+repositories+to+Data+Services+4.2 document, which matches our situation, but am running into trouble on step 3 of that scenario.

When I try to use my old/current Designer to access the old version repository I created on the new server, I get the following error:

Access denied: failed to verify repository identification.  Contact your repository administrator or try another repository.

When I go to the new server and use the IPCMC to look at the repository, it shows it as inactive, and when I try to connect to it, I get a version error.

Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?

I need  one clarification.

SAP Data Services supports oracle E- Business suite to connect and fetch the data.

In SAP BFC project  we will load the data from SAP ERP to SAP BFC using FIM .

Here source is SAP ERP and Target is BFC. Using FIM module we load the data into BFC.

Here FIM module means back end is SAP Data Services only.

Can we load the data from BFC to Oracle E-Business Suite?

I have one requirement to load Oracle EBS to SAP BFC and vice versa also .

Please help me in this.

I have spent many hours on this problem and am hoping to get insight.

I cannot seem to find out how to get the number of rows from a dos command into a variable in Data Services SP5.

The below returns the number of rows in a file, from a windows command prompt:

type "\\path\to\file\nullRecords.csv" | find /c /v ""

In my case, this returns 10 when I run it in a command prompt as the user my DS job runs as. However, now that I am using SP5 I cannot seem to return anything using exec. The following:

$foo =exec('cmd','type "\\\path\to\file\nullRecords.csv" | find /c /v ""',8); 
print ($foo);

The above prints out "0:". $foo is a global varchar length 9999. The 0 seems to suggest that the command is executing correctly. However no standard out is printing. Running the command manually does print this out (I have to change the \\\ to \\ as the only required change).

The manual for scripting suggests that the 8 return code should print both standard out and any error.

When I change this to be a 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 (instead of 8) I get a NULL return every time. This is quite confusing because this does not seem possible for the list of return codes for each to be NULL always (??).

Previously, or with other commands (like just 'dir')  the 8 flag to the cmd exec() would print everything from standard out. I am not sure why this doesn't work here.

I also tried placing this in a .bat file and executing it from the command line, but that also does not seem to work to return anything.

What am I missing here? I've read through the documentation on exec thoroughly but clearly missed something.

Need your help to fine the Job which are currently running in the DS servers.

Below are environment Details:

Windows 2008, 32 B RAM. BI 4.0 SP6 +  DS 4.1 SP2 in the same server.

I have 3 repositories in the server. sometimes server becoming irresponsive.  AL_ENGINE.EXE are consuming 100% CPU utilization.

I would like to find the jobs which are jobs currently running and finding related AL_ENGINE.EXE in the Task manager.

Please find the below screenshot. is there any way to find the jobs and relative PIDs of AL_ENGINE.EXE?

This will help me to find the jobs which are consuming more CPU and Memory.

Hi All,

I have a job which consumes a web service using a Webservice SOAP datastore.  Initially the web service was

at an http address and the everything was working fine. Recently the address changed to an https.  I made all

the required changes to enable SSL, but now the job crashes inside the query that makes the web service

function call.

O/S: Win Server 2008 R2 Standard

I have made the following changes for SSL specified in the Integrators Guide and from searching the forums :

* Downloaded a base64 encoded server certificate and saved it in a folder on the job server

* Made a copy of the folder D:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Data Services\ext\webservice-c

* Made the changes to the axis2.xml file in the new folder as per the Integrator's Guide

* Entered the path to the new folder in the Webservice datastore parameter "Axis2/c config file path"

There are two error lines in the log however I have read on forums that these are normal and don't cause any problem:

Note that one of the input parameters of the web service function is an XML string, usually this string would be about 3 MB in size, but for testing I reduced it to 918 bytes but that made no difference.

Also,I have tried different SSL certificates, root level only, root and second level, all three levels.  If I comment out the SERVER_CERT parameter in the axis2.xml I get a certificate error logged in the axis2_log file and the job doesn't crash but returns the error "There is no response for the webservice <Upload>", when I enable it again I don't get any certificate errors but the job crashes at the point of the web service call and I don't get any reply data back.

Can anyone help, I have run out of ideas !!!
